95. KAREN BICCHIERAI HAIR & MAKE-UP

She’s a yoga guru, loves cats and had the kind heart to fix our producer’s wayward hair before the client arrived on-set. So what’s NOT to like about Karen.

Karen recently worked with us on a quirky Ferguson Plarre campaign. She immediately relaxed our ‘street cast’ talent and got them JUST groomed enough to not look groomed at all – the fine art of being subtle.

We JUST shot with Karen today too on a top secret mission for L’Oreal – she can do it all!!

Be one of the first to check out her brand spanking new website.

96. OLD MELBOURNE

Every now and then a brief hits our desk that we all fight over – and this one got REALLY ugly.

Photographer Garth Oriander asked us to scout a retro pier and pool for his latest test shoot. You’ll find these gems in Brighton and Fitzroy and the custodians are really chilled (red tape free zones and really affordable too).

These spots were clean and simple but ticked all the boxed in the ‘character’ department as well. We can’t show you the shots just yet because they are in the works but keep your eyes peeled – they came up a treat.

97. GREETINGS FROM BRAZIL / STUDIO

We had the pleasure of shooting in this North Melbourne studio recently for our latest Levi’s shoot. It’s the perfect size, you can park your car without 150 laps of the block required, it has a cyc, walls, gear for hire and MOST importantly – a built in coffee machine (a top notch one too).

Brazil belongs to well known Photographers Jamie Macfadyen and Chris Kapa. The gents have brought their creative flair to every corner of this space – it’s clean, comfortable and cool as. Better yet, they didn’t put their hand out for more cash every time you need something a little extra AND even helped us paint our sets. Stylish service with a smile – we’ll head back to Brazil for sure.

98. TOMMY COLLINS / SMALL BATCH CATERING
It’s rare to get EVERYONE to agree on how good the shoot catering is. There is usually one to complain and more often that not it’s the ‘chai soy latte’ girl who’s off the carbs, allergic to lettuce and has a phobia of cake, but you know – we need to look after her too.

We got Tommy Collins (Small Batch division) to cater our last shoot for Myer Emporium magazine and enjoyed the sound of silence – not ONE single complaint.

It was great shoot grub and you won’t be sorry you tried it.

99. KAREN EVANS / STYLIST
You know those Stylists who just quietly go about their business, they don’t bang on about how fabulous they are, everyone likes them and they hit the nail on the head every time – well, that’s Karen Evans. Last month she spread some ‘pink love’ in-studio for Priceline with the lovely ladies at Working Girls THEN we took her down the quarry to dust up the hunks for Hard Yakka. Yes, that’s her on ‘set’ with her pink spotted sweat bottle spritzer – ever the lady even in steel capped boots. Her website looks awesome too its just like Karen – fast, versatile and right to the point.

Our second major production with Yakka in as many years saw us down a quarry literally throwing piles of dust towards the Photographer’s lens.

He’s a good sport that Garth Oriander and someone we really love working with. He brings the ideas and engages well with crew and clients. As good at stills as he is with subjects Garth extracts the most from every element on the set and this was no exception.

We scouted the model at our local gym and apart from his manly modeling skills, he also helped lug all our gear around ‘the set’ – bonus.

Keep your eyes peeled overhead as it’s coming to a billboard near you.

Check out the latest behind the scenes action as we paired up with Peter Mack to shoot the latest range of outdoor furniture for Mitre10.

Peter’s got an uncanny way with natural light (in and out of studio) and fortunately has no fear of heights, getting right up into the clouds for this one.

We enlisted the help from five of our favorite location suppliers, with Grzan Squared and Photoloco supplying the two most beautiful homes on both sides of Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, complete with some sunny patches too.

We are also in production with Peter on our next Snooze shoot so stay tuned for the next beautiful installment.

Produced and shot just before Christmas, it was a busy seven days in studio shooting with two crews to create some inspiring room-sets for the Myer Autumn/Winter 14 furniture collection.

Photographer and Stylist team Lisa Cohen and Heather Nette King were a great choice for the hero lifestyle crew, with their impressive list of editorial and commercial experience ranging from Vogue Living, Inside Out and Country Living magazines, to Dulux and Country Road.

Lisa and Heather work seamlessly together and it was a joy to watch them collaborate. They were cool, calm and collected and very creatively in-sync.

The secondary crew, led by Photographer Jason Reekie did a marvelous job to turn around his high volume shot-list which tied in beautifully with the look and feel of the hero shots. Jason also worked the dreaded weekend shift for which we were eternally grateful. Although he did get out of the housework, so perhaps not the short straw after all!

There have been some changes here at 99-HQ and what better place to explain than on our first news feed.

We’ve dropped the ‘Agent’ and evolved into 99 PRODUCTIONS.

We no longer represent talent and now offer tailored production support to a wider range of photographers, agencies and clients. So, why the change?

It’s true, there is no shortage of great photography suppliers in Melbourne, but there is a demand for high-end production support and solutions.

After five successful years representing and producing for an elite group of local photographers, we saw this as an opportunity to provide something new.

At 99 PRODUCTIONS our focus is now 100% on the jobs.

We have enjoyed working with the 99 photographers over the years and are still collaborating with them, but just when they need our production support.

In-between all this change, we’ve still been busy doing what we do best, producing the images and here is what we’ve been up to lately.
