85. STYLIST VANESSA LANE

We’ve been just hangin’ to work with Vanessa Lane (cool name right) as heard nothing but good things from our buddies in the know. So, we booked her on a biiiiiiig shoot last month that needed wardrobe imagined, sourced and wrangled for sixteen different talent – ummm – in three days.

Vanessa started by producing some thoughtful CLIENT READY mood boards winning instant accolades and hit her contacts, and the shops with gusto to deliver a biiiig boot load of supercool gear. She even came in UNDER the wardrobe and props budget AND delivered options galore on set (true story).

We loved her cool head and even when we threw last minute changes at her like, I dunno – “lets change the brief for tomorrow” or “client would like four more faces” it was a tanty free zone all the way = PROfesh!

Shot over three HOT Melbourne days we cast four families (street and agency style) and produced a super fun campaign for creative agency Helium, celebrating summer in the City of Melbourne.

The 99 location scouts were out in full swing too, organising over ten different shoot spots in the city from rooftops to boats, cafés, gardens, parks and playgrounds.

We’ll show you some shots really soon… meanwhile can someone bring back the sun!!??

It was a happy team at Hawthorn towards the end of last year when we retouched this campaign for the ‘golden army’ and photographer Garth Oriander.

Creatively retouched by Andrew here at 99 along with some great technical help from our good friend and master retoucher Todd Riddiford. It was a great off field collaboration that created some top shots. Go the Hawks in 2015!!

There are only 42 sleeps until Santa comes so time to untangle those Chrissy lights OR go get some new ones, just like like we did for Bunnings’ latest shoot.

Don’t be fooled though, a set up like this is a labour of love and it took a trigger happy photographer not afraid of heights, a couple of cheeky riggers, two patient stylists, some traffic control, a cherry picker, 100 boxes of ‘stuff,’ some super-charged security guards and a sparkie in a pppear treeeeeeee.

BUT THANKFULLY – we had NO ‘Griswold’ moments in the making of these pictures (but plenty of ‘Griswold’ jokes) and we lit up our house RIGHT on the dusk cue. Exhale.

There were 20 friendly faces required for Coles Flybuys from bubs to grandpa and everything in between and we invited submissions from all the most reputable talent agents in Melbourne. We cast over two EPIC session days and found just the perfect collection of happy, animated folk (beautifully shot by a 99 fave photographer Marija Ivkovic).

86. FOOD STYLIST LEE BLAYLOCK

Food styling is a tricky business. It’s more than just arranging the food nicely on the plate. A ‘proper’ food Stylist brings a whole lot more to the table (pun intended).

We could be boring and tell you Melbourne based food stylist Lee Blaylock’s got a love and passion for all things food but of course she does – she’s a food Stylist HELLO, so let’s get more specific.

Lee can develop a recipe (or twenty) on quick demand and on theme and she can produce a clever trick on the spot to make the less appealing grub look irresistible. She even has some creativity left to design and dress the table as well, with her lifestyle ‘style’ as faultless as her food wrangling.

Lee is so patient and calm on set too – no delicate genius syndromes here. Book her immediately and you’ll see what we mean!

We loved casting this one recently finding five natural beauties across the country in all shapes and sizes to celebrate GOK’S new range of shapewear for Target (ladies – the blue polkadot numbers are adorable)!

We had a great time working with creative team at AJF and production team at One20 to pull all the elements together for this latest Officeworks campaign.

We scouted along the Melbourne coast from Altona to Mentone to find a quaint ‘country’ pier and got our ‘hipster’ on dining in the local parks to find the coolest food van to convert.

Then it was time to cast Barry and Donna themselves setting the scene for ‘Barry’s Bait’ and ‘Donna’s Kebab’s’ to showcase Officeworks’s new print and copy service.

The last stop – order in a couple of sunny days and cook the GIANT kebab at home on the BBQ with Pippa the 99 office dog the happy recipient of the leftovers.

87. BGM MODELS

We recently received a casting brief to find five beautiful, natural and curvy women confident enough to model in their knickers for celebrity stylist – GOK himself.

The girls were the absolute hero of the shot so the pressure was on and the casting needed to be perfect. We found working with BGM model agency an absolute delight and all of their submissions were right on target.

BGM’s founder and owner Darrianne Donnelly got right to the heart of the brief with her clear understanding of what we needed and provided the beautiful Laura Wells – who was one of the stand out stars of the shoot.

Like all the BGM girls, Laura is professional, in killer shape and has curves to die for – we’d book her again and recommend BGM in a flash.

Another furniture client we just love shooting for is La-z-boy. We produced a beautiful series of images for them recently managing every aspect of the production from crew selection, location sourcing and shoot management.

Keep your eyes peeled about town for the beautiful shots (and a hot tip if you are out furniture shopping – their new range of occasional pieces are definitely worth a look – retro heaven!)
